Deconstructing Barry

Thomas Lifson over at American Thinker has a very interesting and revealing article about the formative years of the American president that most Americans actually know very little about (largely thanks to an adoring media who never vetted him during the campaign).  In the article, Lifson goes in to detail about Barack Obama's childhood growing up in Indonesia, and how these formative years affects his attitudes and perceptions today, be it his intense dislike for oil companies, his lack of belief in American exceptionalism, and his Marxist ideology.  From the article (emphasis mine):
In his most formative years, the boy who became President of the United States was, in other words, subjected to humiliating, demeaning membership in a lower caste and cognizant both of the seemingly undeserved privileges of children born to high-caste expatriates and the grinding poverty of ordinary Indonesians among whom his family lived. That a deep anger and sense of unfairness would develop in such a situation seems more than likely, laying the groundwork for resentment of American power and wealth, and an embrace of anti-colonialist ideologies which undergirded a quest for political revenge, later in life.
 Lifson concluded saying:
It was not a pleasant life Barack Obama endured in Jakarta as the child Barry Soetoro. Regrettably, all Americans are now forced to share some of his pain.

Indeed.  Have you had enough Hope and Change yet?

Is Sharia Law compatible with the Constitution, Part II

Er, not quite.

Here's the thing. Muslims want to leave their hell holes and move to a civilized country, be it The USA, Europe, Australia or one of the thriving far east democracies. But as soon as they get there they fall back to their old ways and want Sharia Law. I guess this is a way to keep their women in line, but it is totally incompatible with our way of life. Sadly Islam has never had a reformation that the Christian church had centuries ago, and still lives in the 7th century.

Here's my advise to the people who we have opened up our doors to and taken them in, either as refugees (like in Somalia and Iraq) or as students who come here to study, then get jobs and get legal status. Either assimilate or go back home. We are a very tolerant people, but we are not all that tolerant of people of are constantly outraged that we do not accept their values. Tolerance means, I acknowledge that you have your beliefs and will put up with them. It does not mean I approve of them or accept them in my personal life.

Some mood music for a Thursday evening

Here's a rare unreleased Neil Young song that is said to have been from the mid-70's time frame.  Young is one of those amazing old hippies who didn't burn out, self destruct or fade away over the years.  That's a pretty rare breed.  Enjoy!

Know any Arabs?

One thing that can be said about me is that I am not politically correct, and am an equal opportunity offender.  A friend sent me this, and I thought I'd share it here.
Ahkmed, the Arab, came to the United States from the Middle East and he was only here a few months when he became very ill.
He went to doctor after doctor, but none of them could help him.
Finally, he went to an Arab doctor who said, "Take dees bocket, go into de odder room, poop in de bocket, pee on de poop, and den put your head down over de bocket an breathe in de fumes for ten minutes."
Ahkmed took the bucket, went into the other room, pooped in the bucket, peed on the poop, bent over and breathed in the fumes for ten minutes.
Coming back to the doctor he said, "It worked.  I feel terrific!  What was wrong with me?"
The doctor said, "You were homesick!"
No Arabs were harmed in the making of this joke.

Dude!

The office of county treasurer is a pretty unexciting, but very important position, considering that this person controls the purse strings.  Well, the race for treasure has been unexciting until now.  Dude brings a certain excitement and enthusiasm to the race.

To Burn or Not To Burn

..... that is not the question.  The question to me is why is the media even giving this attention whore any publicity at all?  In case you have not been paying attention, Terry Jones is a Florida pastor who plans on having a big Koran burning event, and it is getting wall to wall media coverage.  If people would just ignore him, the controversy would just go away.  Instead, this idiot's actions will inflame Muslims worldwide (not that that is any mean trick anyway) and riots and murders will soon follow, as they did after the publication of the Danish Mohammed cartoons.

Speaking of media whore's, Jones has been linked to Fred Phelps' Westboro Baptist Church, you know, the guy who protests military funerals.  The best I can say is birds of a feather.

Update 1:  Michelle Malkin has a good piece on the subject on her blog site.  It gives a bit of insite into the Koran and Islam in general.  It's worth your time to have a look.

Update 2:  I guess that Terry Jones got enough publicity and now has decided to call the whole thing off.  Now maybe the presstitutes in the media can focus on more important things like this drunken Chinese diplomat behaving very un-diplomatically.  Now that's entertainment!

Castro Said What?

I guess he is just a slow learner, but after 50 years Fidel Castro is finally admitting that the Cuban model is not working anymore.  Does anyone besides me doubt his sincerity?  It's interesting that at the same time he is helping bolster socialist regimes in Venezuela, Nicaragua, Bolivia and Ecuador.  One has to wonder if this is just an olive branch to the Obama administration in hopes of a lift on the trade embargo.

I for one would like to see the embargo lifted, and not because I have any love for the Castro brothers.  Quite to the contrary they can not shuffle off the mortal coil soon enough to suit me.  But the embargo has been ineffective for many years now and it really just kept in place to placate the large Cuban-American population in southern Florida.

Update:  In an Emily LaTela moment, apparently Jeffrey Goldberg was duped by Castro, who has been duping lefty journalists for decades.  Fausta Wertz has the details.  Never mind.
